Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Nonprofit Operations Associate. In this role, you will play a vital role in supporting the operational success of our nonprofit organization, the Social Justice Center (SJC). This role is likely to be modified over time depending on the skills of the applicant and the needs of the organization.
Responsibilities:
Facilities Coordination:
- Coordinate and oversee the organization's facility management, including maintenance, repairs, and renovations.
- Schedule and delegate regular and seasonal maintenance, as well as repairs, serve as a point of contact for outside contractors
- Manage the organization's inventory, including procurement of supplies and equipment.
- Perform basic administrative duties, including filing paperwork, sorting mail, assisting with the preparation of operational budgets and financial reports, compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to operations
- Work with operations committee to plan and research opportunities for building renovations/capital improvements
Tech Management:
- Manage SJC apps for communication, reference, and scheduling (Google workspace, Discord, Slab, Teamup, Basecamp).
- Maintain the building’s electronic access system.
- Manage computers, conference room equipment, monitors, printers, and electronic signage programming (Yodeck).
- Work with staff and volunteers to maintain the SJC website (Wordpress).
Management of shared/public spaces
- Provide occasional support at the front desk.
- Assist with cleaning up messes and de-escalating situations when necessary.
- Coordinate with individuals interested in holding events at SJC to provide them with necessary access and information.
- Help keep basement storage organized, including equipment checkout and reminding members to keep their space accessible.
Internal governance, SJC-wide communication and collaboration
- Manage and maintain the organization's operational systems and processes, in collaboration with board of directors and committees
- Assist in the development and implementation of operational policies and procedures
- Onboard and orient new members of SJC, keep organization membership apprised of news and updates, schedule volunteer workdays
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Familiarity with building systems/facilities management and IT to coordinate with vendors, consultants, and volunteers.
- 2 years of experience in facilities/property management, organizational operations, building trades, or administration (Associates or Bachelors not required).
- Proficient in Google Workspace, Adobe, and online project management apps/software, past experience with Discord, Slab, Basecamp, Wordpress, calendar and digital signage software a plus
- Prior experience in nonprofit operations or a relevant field is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers, and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of nonprofit operations best practices and an understanding of the nonprofit sector.

Part Time position & compensation
Pay: starting $21/hour, with increases available based on performance
Hours: 10 - 20 hours per week for the first few months, with the intention to increase hours if interested/resources allow
