The Volunteer Coordinator (VC) is a full-time position at St. Vincent de Paul NKY responsible for growing the volunteer base of people interested in helping the organization through meaningful volunteer experiences and strengthening the volunteer program. The Volunteer Coordinator works closely with internal staff, area schools, groups, businesses, community agencies, and individuals to address areas where volunteer support is critical in fulfilling the mission of SVDP, maximizing volunteer effectiveness, satisfaction, and retention, and helping to raise awareness for SVDP.
SCOPE OF WORK:
- Under the direction of the Advancement Director, recruit, train, retain, and recognize volunteers.
- Keep updated, detailed records of volunteers in an Excel database, including volunteer contact information, number of hours worked, and location of volunteer experience.
- Support seasonal service programs by recruiting and managing all volunteer activities for events, such as coat distributions and Vincent’s Angels.
- Recruit volunteers to help with the coat distribution for each location.
- Work with the Food Program Manager to recruit and maintain staffing of volunteers for Erlanger and Cold Spring food pantries.
- Solicit area businesses to sponsor a family for the Adopt-a-Family
- Respond to inquiries related to SVdP programs and direct the inquiry to the appropriate program manager.
- Help the development staff with fundraising events (Bourbon Raffle, Turkeyfoot Trot, etc.)
- Proactively engage and solicit area businesses and corporations to participate in the Volunteer program.
- Actively schedule volunteers for each of the donation and retail stores, ensuring full coverage during business hours.
- Follow up with volunteers within 24 to 48 hours after their first experience, and subsequently during volunteer’s time with organization to gather feedback and answer any questions.
- Other duties as assigned.
