The Invest team is charged with creating a fully integrated, elegant and seamless end-to-end experience for SoFi members who invest with us, with a key focus on the needs of the Aspiring Affluent - both those needs known today and those of the future. We build the strategic vision and lead the development, delivery, and enhancement of online brokerage and advice, digital solutions, asset management, and equity capital marketing product offerings.
Position Overview:
Sofi is seeking a General Manager and Business Unit Lead of Invest, to lead and drive growth across the online brokerage, digital advice, ETF, IPO, financial planning, and alternative offerings. We are looking for an innovative leader with deep digital and financial services experiences and who understands the competitive and regulatory landscapes around digital consumer financial services. The Business Unit Lead of Invest will define and lead the overall Invest growth strategy and lead a cross functional team to deliver an exceptional member experience and drive business results.
Reporting to the Group Business Unit Leader, the Business Unit Lead, Invest, will focus on enhancing core trading and digital advice capabilities while delivering a differentiated value proposition. Through partnership across the business, the candidate is responsible for growing Invest AUM, revenue and contribution profit, increasing net promoter scores and reducing the cost-to-serve.
The desired candidate thrives in a fast-paced, data-driven and results-oriented environment, digs in, provides hands-on leadership and reacts nimbly to changing conditions. Candidates should have a management style that fosters teamwork and collaboration while still driving results and a demonstrated passion for investing. A seasoned and well trained professional, the successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with the ability to communicate the vision, execute roadmaps, inspire confidence and collaborate closely with external and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
- Through a "member obsessed" lens, define strategic agenda for Invest leveraging member feedback and industry research
- Continuously explore new strategies and leverage innovative technologies to deliver compelling and differentiated investing experiences to customers
- Partner closely with Marketing to strengthen brand awareness, member xBuy and engagement
- Work with Product, Operations and Technology teams to establish operating models and process flows
- Partner closely with Compliance, Legal, Risk and Control partners, as well as regulatory affairs, proactively identifying and mitigating risks and addressing issues with urgency; interact with regulators; potentially serve as President of SoFi broker/dealer and Wealth RIA
- Collaborate closely with vendors in their support of the product delivery lifecycle; serve as senior sponsor for vendor relationships in the investing product, digital and non-digital spaces
- Mentor and develop talent as a culture-carrier - provide team members with learning opportunities, empowerment, coaching and exposure, sharing information at the right cadence and depth
- Set a compelling vision, drive execution, and be exceptional at communication and presentation skills with the ability to crisply articulate to senior audiences, the SoFi board and regulators with poise and confidence.
- Drive results for Invest but also do so in the context of driving results for the broader SoFi company by providing a compelling solution for members that is well integrated and leverages other products and experiences
- Bachelor's degree and preferably MBA, preferably in Digital, Marketing, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting or related field
- 15 years of experience in financial services, preferably with experience in online brokerage, strategy, wealth management, online investing, digital banking, equity capital markets, asset management, or a closely related business or a track record of delivering results
- Demonstrated experience in a role that is fully accountable for the business (P&L) results, deliverables and member experience
- Demonstrated experience in developing and launching best-in-class and differentiated online investment or banking products and services and with a passion for executing against and driving success versus OKRs or metrics
- Strong strategy background and ability to successfully navigate competitive landscape and industry pressure and ability to paint a vision for how to innovate, lead the industry and be member obsessed
- Deep familiarity with regulatory requirement and fiduciary responsibilities
- Proven ability to execute via successful internal partnerships
- Strong and proven ability to lead independently, requiring minimal supervision but knowing when to escalate
- Experience evaluating vendor offerings, conducting build-buy-partner analysis, negotiating contracts, integrating, and managing relationships
- Excellent leadership skills - of businesses, relationships, programs, projects, teams and employees - with demonstrated track record for attracting and retaining top talent and leading through influence in cases where teams do not report in directly
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills
- Unafraid to prioritize and make trade offs
- Must be a team player who effectively collaboratives internally while fiercely competitive externally

- Licensing may be required (e.g., Series 7, 24, 99) - current licenses are preferred but this requirement can be fulfilled post-onboarding
