Intern - Software Engineer

Using modern programming languages and technologies, this Intern - Software Engineer has the potential to work with either the Data Platform Team, or the Operations Optimizer Team. Depending on the team, this person will focus on more of the “Ops” side of DevOps, or focus more on tradition application programming with API’s and databases. This intern will impact Itron’s outcomes business and will have the opportunity to learn and grow with innovative Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) technologies within Microsoft.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Design and execution of code in C# to support product integration
• Participate in product design reviews to provide input on integration of functional requirements, product designs, and forecasting
• With support, analyze and decompose complex software systems and collaborate with and influence others to improve the overall design
• Develop and support the testing of product features throughout the entire development cycle
• Collaborate and communicate frequently with data team and project stakeholders

Technologies (depending upon the team): C#, SQL Server/PostgreSQL, Angular, Azure, Azure DevOps YAML pipelines, SQL Server, Chef/ruby, Ansible/python, PowerShell, Azure, .Net 6

Qualifications:

• Education: Enrolled in a related degree or training program (Computer Science or Computer Engineering preferred) with completion of at least two years of college courses.
• Experience: 0-2 years. Previous internship or co/op experience is preferred.

Required Skills:

• Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions
• Programming experience in C#
• Working knowledge of databases
• Working knowledge of version control systems (ideally Git)
• Strong documentation skills
• Professional workplace communication skills
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a group
• Available ~40 hours/week, hybrid, summer 2024

Preferred Skills:

• Experience working in an Agile development environment
• Knowledge of standard enterprise level software development life cycles
• Work with relational databases like SQL Server or PostgreSQL

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills and experience. 
Liberty Lake, Washington: The base salary is $15.87 – $44.23
