Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Compliance Specialist for a contract assignment with one of our premier financial services clients in Boston, MA. This role will be remote.

Responsibilities :
  • Responsible for firm's internal compliance program, including recurring key controls testing.
  • Be an important part of the quarterly key control compliance testing process and will have the opportunity to mature the process with each testing cycle by confirming sound and repeatable processes and controls are in place.
  • Testing activities include supporting the established testing program by continuing the analysis and testing activities for the firm's Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO), Information Technology General Controls (ITGC), and other operational key controls testing.
  • The assignment focuses on performing control testing of COSO, IT and other operational key controls to assess the consistency in which they are applied and their design and operational effectiveness.
  • This testing directly assesses the strength of the key controls in preventing or mitigating inaccuracies that would impact the firm and the firm's financial reporting and serves as a critical input to the overall operational risk profile for the firm's service.
  • The testing is also a direct input into the assertion and reliance letter processes which attest to the soundness of the firm and the firm's financial statements.
Required Skills:
  • Risk management, accounting, internal audit, and/or technology/security-related compliance and controls experience.
  • Understanding of/experience with the execution of the COSO framework and controls testing- e.g., COSO or ITcontrols testing, financial/business process testing, etc.
  • Critical thinking skills, including the ability to work through ambiguity, strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to conduct analyses of complex inputs/outputs and convey in an intuitive manner to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of business standards, legal requirements, and related policies and practices to ensure firm's compliance. Ability to articulate / document possible control deficiencies when and if they become apparent.
  • Effective interpersonal skills. Organizational awareness. Able to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders across the function and other defined partners.
  • Planning and time management skills. Identifies, plans, and pursues multiple initiatives in parallel and delivers superior results on time with minimal supervision.
  • Initiative and innovation toward enhancing effectiveness of process and achieving high-quality results. Actively supports and promotes a continuous improvement environment.
  • Highly developed oral and written presentation and communications skills.
