Senior SQL Developer
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY:
As a Sr. SQL Developer, you will participate in the strategic planning for the client's databases, supporting infrastructure, integrity, and database growth oversight. In addition, you will be a mentor to the SQL Development team and the roles they play in developing and maintaining our database environments.
With experience in Medical/Pharmacy claims, the Sr. SQL Developer will create fast and performant database queries to aid clients role in supporting our Network providers, Care Management & other Departments within an MSO environment. In Addition, this candidate will be responsible for performing database maintenance tasks as directed by the Director Data Integrity & Integrations. Your duties will include collaborating with the SQL team to define and contribute to the development of appropriate SQL projects. This candidate will have a desire to grow in this role, taking on additional opportunities within Data Management and Integrations.
In addition to following best database design and development practices, you will be responsible for understanding relevant data security procedures and legislation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Must be able to utilize SQL to analyze, test, and validate Medical and Pharmacy claims, EMR data, and member attribution.
- Experience with Python or willingness to learn.
- Experience with HL7 standards.
- Develop, implement, and optimize SSIS Packages.
- Develop, implement, and optimize Stored Procedures.
- Understands best practices to ensure that data is accurate and delivered and processed on a timely basis.
- Review and interpret ongoing business report requirements.
- Analyze existing SQL queries for performance improvements and suggest new queries where appropriate.
- Develop procedures and scripts for data migration.
- Provided production support as needed.
- QA to ensure integrity of the code. Working Collaboratively with the team to Review, identify and resolve issues affecting integrity and quality of data.
- Maintain and back up databases regularly.
- Perform SQL database sharing and indexing procedures as required to handle heavy traffic loads.
- Documentation as appropriate for all procedures and code.
- Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Bachelor's degree in software development, computer science, business intelligence, information technology, data management, or other related fields required, advanced degree desirable.
- Advanced knowledge of database procedures and Microsoft SQL Server concepts
- General knowledge of Python
- SSIS / SSRS
- HL7 Standards
- Excellent communication skills
- Familiarity with GitHub and Dataedo a plus
- The ability to create fast and efficient database queries, including joining and cross-referencing cells from several tables.
