The Senior Product Owner serves {functional area} as the voice of the customer to guide development teams in building software capabilities with the highest business and customer impact. They have a mastery in PO practices as well as the applications they support, and actively investigate and train others in ways to improve practices at the organization. The Senior Product Owner anticipates or sees gaps in other teams and offers assistance until those gaps can be filled. They represent business needs and priorities, prioritize and manage the product backlog, recommend developers for backlog items based on knowledge of the developer's experience, and incorporate feedback from business stakeholders to guide continuous product improvement. The Senior Product Owner is accountable for the delivery of business outcomes for multiple high, or one or more products of the greatest complexity.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Authors Agile stories and performs backlog prioritization 55%
- Meets with stakeholders to gain clarity on business needs 25%
- Participates in Scrum ceremonies 5%
- Stay current and familiar with marketplace, make build vs. buy decisions for the domain 5%
- Collaborates to ensure product vision remains appropriate and applicable to DG's strategic direction 5%
- Document and educate on Agile methodologies and promote adoption across department(s) 5%
- Develops metrics to measure customer satisfaction and bug-free implementation
- Educates and coaches teams on Agile methodologies to promote adoption across departments
- Determines dependencies on other teams
- Servant-Leader for multiple cross functional teams with a portfolio of products
- Develops Use Cases and authors agile stories while prioritizing the highest impact work for the team and stakeholders
- Accepts high-level objectives and works with stakeholders to convert business needs into product requirements
- Manages a variety of viewpoints to build stakeholder consensus
- Refine the backlog to enforce Sprint/story durations
- Develops and communicates product vision, strategy and related roadmap for the product
- Leads sprint review meetings and analyzes feedback to identify and understand product needs
- Primary technical contact for the engineering team
- Software delivery experience related to Human Capital Management and Payroll applications
- Working in or with Agile software delivery teams using tools such as JIRA and Confluence
- Working with a first class HCM application; Lawson S3 HR and Payroll application preferred
