SOL Engineering Services, LLC is seeking mid-level archaeologists with experience in FEMA's Public Assistance (PA) program to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cultural resource management, archaeological fieldwork, and a thorough understanding of FEMA's policies and procedures related to historic preservation and cultural resources. This individual will play a critical role in assessing and mitigating potential impacts to archaeological resources following natural disasters and emergencies.
IMPORTANT NOTE:Public Assistance (PA) Experience is in high demand for deployment considerations and is required by FEMA. Experience must be 1 or more years of deployment regional, state or local level.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct archaeological assessments and surveys in accordance with FEMA's PA program requirements.
Document and evaluate archaeological sites and resources affected by disaster events, including documenting impacts, assessing significance, and recommending appropriate mitigation measures.
Provide technical expertise and guidance on cultural resource management and historic preservation requirements to FEMA personnel, applicants, and stakeholders.
Assist in the development and implementation of archaeological monitoring and mitigation plans to address impacts to cultural resources during disaster recovery efforts.
Demonstrated knowledge of federal laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to cultural resource management and historic preservation, including Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
Experience conducting archaeological fieldwork, including survey, excavation, and site recording, in various environmental settings.
A minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience or related field of expertise.
Must be a U.S. citizen and be able to pass an FBI background check.
Must have a clean driving record and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
Must have a current valid driver's license.
Ability to mobilize within 24-48 hours, commit to a minimum 90-day assignment in remote locations and disaster conditions.
Ability to work well across multiple teams and meet critical deadlines.
Ability to stand or walk for long periods of times on varying terrain.
Flexibility to work in different locations as needed by FEMA.
Idea candidate will have preferred qualifications:
Certification or eligibility for certification by the Register of Professional Archaeologists (RPA) or equivalent professional organization.
Experience working with state historic preservation offices (SHPOs), tribal governments, and other stakeholders involved in cultural resource management and historic preservation.
Familiarity with FEMA's Environmental and Historic Preservation (EHP) programmatic requirements and processes.
