Transaction Specialist
Supervisor: Conservation Director
Employment Type: Full-time, non-exempt (hourly)
Compensation: $21.15 - $25.95/hour DOE
Hours: 8am-5pm Mon – Fri, with some flexibility
Job Summary
The Specialist, with direction from the Conservation Program Director will manage and facilitate all real estate transaction-related aspects of Conservation Easement agreements and Fee Title transactions. Engage and support in grant application research, outreach, and writing, supports Conservation Program Director with outreach to agricultural landowners, Funders, Agencies, and all others that are part of the transaction process. The Specialist will be tasked with recordkeeping and reporting on all phases of the transaction in order to substantiate the agreements and adhere to accreditation standards.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Manage easement acquisition and mitigation projects
- Manage fee title acquisition projects
- Draft and coordinate land transaction documents (grant applications, baseline documentation reports, correspondence, notices, conservation easements, purchase and sale agreements)
- Coordinate process of project grant application and grant reporting to public agency funders
- Draft contracts and manage approval and recordkeeping processes
- Manage related committee outreach and meetings
- Foster effective relationships to enhance SLT’s mission, including landowners, Solano residents, government officials, staff, and board and committee members
General Organizational Support:
- Assist with special events.
- Work with staff to identify and cultivate potential donors, with focus on the agricultural community
- Represent SLT at meetings and conferences
- Provide staff support as requested

Position Requirements
Minimum Education, Skills, Experience:
- 5 years’ experience working in real estate, land conservation or related field
- Excellent interpersonal skills – good at building relationships, working collaboratively, and negotiating effectively
- Experience drafting and negotiating contract terms (i.e. purchase agreements, consultant contracts)
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and stay organized, including being detail-oriented and able to multi-task
- Experience preparing and managing project budgets and timelines
- Experience with project accounting, including tracking and reporting project costs, working with invoices
- Experience preparing grant proposals
- Strong oral and written communication
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Basic familiarity with GIS
Desired Skills
- Knowledge of legal, financial, and real estate activities involved in land ownership, sales and purchases.
- Experience working for or with nonprofit organizations
- Familiarity with the county’s agricultural practices and understanding of the habitats and species that occur in Solano County
- Experience with and knowledge of environmental laws and regulations
- Experience working with federal, state, and local government agencies and private organizations involved in land conservation
Salary and Benefits
Salary range of $21.15 - $25.95/hour based on experience. SLT provides medical, dental, and vision insurance, $25,000 in life insurance, matches up to 3% of employee’s contribution toward their 403.b retirement account, and provides eleven paid holidays and two weeks of accrued vacation per year.
