Grant Writer
The Job/What You’ll Do:
The Grant Writer’s primary focus is compiling information and writing persuasive responses to opportunities that align with Solari’s strategic objectives. The Grant Writer will provide support to the Director of Business Development during consulting work. In addition, support will be provided to the Director of Philanthropy, when possible, to assist with fundraising activities and applications to solicit donations.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares proposals by conducting research and gathering internal and external data to support responses to grant applications.
- Serves as the liaison between operations and business development to understand Solari’s programming and convey the organization’s expertise to earn new business.
- Tracks and monitors proposals, their deadlines, and specific submission requirements.
- Provides coordination between operations, finance, and other staff so that all activities related to grant response data collection is completed smoothly.
- Writes and edits executive summaries, conclusions, and organizational and program descriptions.
- Provides support to Director of Business Development with consulting and other Business Development activities.
- Provides support to Director of Philanthropy if needed in completing applications for donations.
- Attend and serve as staff support for community and fundraising events as needed.
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Excellent writing ability that is clear, concise, and analytic in style
- Ability to write for different audiences, such as government entities, managed care organizations, foundations, and donors
- Experience conducting research
- Excels in a team environment
- Working knowledge and ability to use APA style
- Maintains an open and accepting mindset by being an active learner, participating in discussions with others, trying new approaches and ideas, and being self-aware and self-reflective for continual personal, professional and leadership growth.
- Strategically plans for diversity initiatives as they relate to Human Resources, including talent acquisition, development, and retention.
- Actively promotes staff development by initiating and encouraging communication with employees about issues of diversity and discrimination.

Education & Experience:
- 2 years of experience in Grant writing and research, Required
- Bachelors Degree, Required
- Focus in Communication, Psychology or Language Arts related fields, Preferred
(NOTE: A comparable combination of education/experience and/or training will be considered equivalent to the education listed above.)
Working Conditions:
While performing the job duties in the office or at a home office, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands; they must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Exposure to noise typical with office operations. Ability to hear and speak.
