Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
Location : Tinley Park, IL
Job Description : We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to join our school team in Tinley Park, IL.
The ideal candidate will provide specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments, ensuring they receive the education and resources necessary to achieve their academic and personal goals.
This role involves developing individualized education programs (IEPs), collaborating with colleagues and families, and creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Educational Requirements :
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Education of the Visually Impaired or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Valid state certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Illinois.
Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in both inclusive and specialized classroom settings.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure cohesive educational plans.
- Teach students to use assistive technology and other resources to enhance their learning experience.
- Conduct assessments to determine students' functional vision and learning media needs.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress and plan for future educational needs.
- Stay current with best practices and advancements in the field of visual impairment education through ongoing professional development.
Certifications :
- State certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Illinois.
- Additional endorsements or certifications in related areas preferred.
