As a TVI, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and developmental needs of visually impaired students, working collaboratively with educators, families, and communities to create positive and inclusive learning environments.
Job Description : As a Teacher of the Visually Impaired with Soliant, you will have the opportunity to work in a variety of educational settings, providing specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments.
Your responsibilities will include developing individualized education plans (IEPs), adapting instructional materials, and utilizing assistive technology to ensure that students have access to the curriculum and can achieve academic success.
Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments.
- Adapt curriculum materials and teaching strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students with visual impairments.
- Utilize and train students in the use of assistive technology and adaptive equipment.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and related service providers to support student success.
- Conduct assessments to determine students needs and progress.
- Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress and IEP goals.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education, Visual Impairment, or related field.
- Valid Virginia teaching certificate with endorsement in Visual Impairment or eligibility for certification.
- Experience working with students with visual impairments preferred.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to adapt to various instructional situations and student needs.
