Position Overview:
Solid Power is seeking an Automation Engineer to join our talented team working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next-generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries. Solid Power is a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative team environment. This position requires the ability to learn a wide set of skills to the ability of an entry level engineer. The position requires the ability to design automation equipment, perform mechanical/electrical assembly, part fabrication, testing of equipment, vision programming, data acquisition, and documentation alongside a Sr level engineer. The ideal candidate will have the skill set to learn quickly, and be flexible with multiple projects. A background in mechanical machine design is preferred. This candidate is required to design industrial automation equipment in SolidWorks. Experience writing teach pendant programs for, and troubleshooting Fanuc 6 axis robots is preferred. Experience with machine vision is preferred. This role reports to a Sr Automation Engineer and will work closely with other automation and controls engineers.
Job Duties:
- Design parts and assemblies for industrial automation equipment.
- Provide engineering drawings with standard GD&T
- Fabrication of parts with the use of hand tools and CNC equipment
- Mechanical assembly & Electrical assembly for industrial automation equipment.
- Basic programming and troubleshooting of PLCs.
- Operations, testing and troubleshooting of equipment.
- Documentation and work instructions of engineering processes.
- Basic vision programming for inspection and GO NOGO sensors.
- Work closely, collaboratively, and effectively with other departments and team members.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, or related field.
- 0-3 years of related industry experience.
- Experience with Allen Bradley PLC programming with Studio5000 Logix Designer, Studio5000 View Designer, and FT View Studio preferred.
- Experience with machine vision (iRVision, iRPicktool, Keyence, or Cognex) preferred.
- Experience with Fanuc robotics programming and integration preferred.
- Solidworks user.
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency required.
Salary Range: $62,000 - $94,000/year
