Position Overview:
Solid Power is seeking an EHS Engineer to join our talented team of engineers and scientists working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next‐generation, all solid‐state rechargeable batteries. Solid Power is a dynamic, fast‐paced, collaborative and innovative team environment. The preferred candidate will have 5 years of environmental compliance and management system experience in a manufacturing or chemical processing environment. Occupational Health and Safety Experience a plus.
Job Duties:
- Environmental compliance and management system program for two facilities in Colorado. Support health and safety program at both locations.
- Identify and interpret environmental and safety regulations and provide guidance for compliance.
- Assist with preparation of government reports and permits/certifications.
- Development of EHS Management systems (ISO 14001/ISO 45001), standards, and procedures.
- Participate in and lead incident investigations.
- Creation and delivery of EHS training programs.
- Emergency response and evacuation planning. Responds to emergency situations involving hazardous materials, fire and smoke incidents, or unknown hazards; prepares reports of findings and submits recommendations.
- Conduct site inspections and audits and identify areas of improvement.
- Interface between local, state, and federal regulatory agencies, and insurance carrier representatives to ensure that the company complies with appropriate requirements.
- Implement environmental solutions and drive changes in manufacturing processes systems that lead to reduction in environmental impact.
- Development, collection, and analysis of EHS metrics and reports.
- Performs miscellaneous job‐related duties as assigned.
Qualifications/ Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, environmental health, or related discipline and 5 years of experience in an environmental engineering function.
- ISO 14001 Internal Auditor (Lead Auditor preferred).
- Rapid learner and self-motivated who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative start-up environment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Works well under pressure, effectively handles conflict and demonstrates flexibility in work style to accommodate changing priorities and fixed deadlines.
- Serves as a change agent to drive cultural change in quickly changing business environment. Inspires others to action through collaboration and influence.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, environmental health, or related discipline and 5 years of experience in an environmental engineering/coordinator function.
- Manufacturing or chemical industry experience a plus.
- Experience with Colorado Environmental (CDPHE) regulations a plus.
- Solid and hazardous waste management for a large quantity generator.
- Wastewater and stormwater management, permitting, and controls.
- Air emission management, permitting, and controls.
- ISO 14001 implementation, certification, maintenance (required), ISO 45001 experience (preferred).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to wear a respirator
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk

Salary Range: $75,000 - $100,000/year
