Job Responsibilities
The EDI (electronic data interchange) Developer is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing files between the Insight system and outside vendors, clients, and brokers as well as internal reporting. EDI Developers are responsible for analyzing various specifications to work in conjunction with reports, interfaces, and mappings provided by data-trading partners. They coordinate and work with internal teams to complete EDI testing, implementations, and modifications of EDI files.
- Research, analyze, and understand data elements in our system, as well as inbound and outbound carrier and payroll systems.
- Develop mapping and translations between data elements for file feeds (e.g., account structure).
- Develop 834 and proprietary EDI files from our systems to carrier, payroll and other systems
- Establish and set up file transfer protocols or other various means of connection with outside vendors.
- Develop and debug standard or custom system SQL reports.
- Develop, review, and optimize complex SQL code.
- Write and debug import, export, or enrollment logic processing steps in SQL code.
- Develop code for file system imports.
- Provide system support for EDI production systems. Interact with team to define failures and stuck files.
- Ability to troubleshoot data and process problems effectively.
- Ability to analyze batch jobs and determine their current status.
- Ability to produce comprehensive documentation.

What We're Looking For (Nobody's Perfect but Experience is a Plus!
- 2 to 5 years of experience creating and programming ETL feeds
- Ability to intake a problem, create a solution, and communicate the result
- Advanced SQL writing and optimization skills
- Experience with Benefit Administration and/or Enrollment platforms
- Experience working with SQL Server
- Experience with Talend, Python and Glue a plus
- An understanding of different file layouts and testing output including mapping and translations.
- Familiarity with EDI or ETL concepts – including File Transfer Protocols, Encryption and Transmission methods, Flat files, HIPAA Standards, ANSI 834 file format, File testing methods, Data Reconciliations process.
- Experienced in advanced Excel skills, especially in the use of formulas and VLOOKUPs a plus
- An understanding of file layouts and testing output including mapping and translations.
