Job Description Summary
The Senior Accountant assists in maintaining financial records and ensuring that financial transactions are properly recorded.
Essential Functions
- Posts transactions, prepares journal entries and reconciles balance sheet ledger and subledger accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Assists with month-end close and preparation of monthly financial statements.
- Assists with year-end closings and annual audit.
- Assists in analyzing current manufacturing and operational costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to be used by senior leadership to predict future revenues and expenses.
- Compiles financial data to aid in the preparation of financial statements and other reports.
- Supports external and internal reporting and analysis needs of the business, ensuring compliance with corporate deadlines and requirements.
- Delivers accounting support to other departments.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams in both process and project settings.
- Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.

- Able to move seamlessly between tactical accounting work and more high-level financial support is a plus.
- A solid foundation in U.S. GAAP is required.
- Experience working with NetSuite is a plus.

Work Environment
This position is based in Carlsbad, CA with remote work flexibility.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position that requires schedule flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Travel
This position requires up to 10% travel.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field of study.
- Advanced degree, CPA or CMA a plus.
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience in a fast-paced environment.
- Public accounting experience highly preferred.
- Life sciences or biotech experience a plus
- Finance and accounting know how, with strong business acumen and understanding of U.S. GAAP.
