What are the responsibilities and job description for the On-Call Awake Overnight (Washington, DC) position at SOME Inc?
SOME (So Others Might Eat) exists to help the homeless and poor of Washington, DC. With over 30 programs throughout the District of Columbia, we provide a wide spectrum of services to the most vulnerable individuals and families of our city. We strive to provide success paths toward mental and physical health, continued sobriety, job training and employment with a living wage, affordable housing, and ultimately living independently and confidently.
SOME (So Others Might Eat) is currently seeking On-Call Awake Overnight staff, specifically with experience in Behavioral Health Services, to join our SOME family. On-call employees work as needed to cover shifts, fill in for staff during vacations and holidays, and sometimes fill in to facilitate groups.
Covid-19 Considerations: SOME (So Others Might Eat) currently has a mandatory Covid-19 vaccination policy. All employees are required to have completed the Covid-19 vaccination prior to hiring. Submission of a Covid-19 Vaccination Card is required.
We are currently accepting applications for on-call employees that have the ability to work between the hours of 11:00 pm - 8:00 am, and with experience serving vulnerable populations.
Schedule: Work as needed. Must have availability between 11:00 pm - and 8:00 am. Shifts may vary.
Location: Must be able to work at any of the residential, adult, transitional, or family housing programs. Most programs are in SE, NW, and NE Washington, DC.
Qualifications:
Required: High school diploma and/or equivalent; minimum of one year of experience in human service and/or substance abuse/recovery field;
Required License/Certification: Valid Driver's license. Maintain current CPR/First Aid certification
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Transporting clients/residents safely in SOME vehicle, as needed.
- Ability to set clear boundaries with staff and clients as a professional representative of the organization.
- Ability to communicate and document incidents reports, monitoring, and observation notes/logs as required by the program.
- Ability to interpret, monitor, and document medical information (Medication Monitoring knowledge).
- Ability to work independently and execute sound judgment.
Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds. Requires looking at a computer screen for several hours a day. May be required to sit for long periods.
