The Sonnenalp Club is looking for an Outside Service Manager from April 1st through October 31st
Wage: $17.00 - $19.00/hour
Summary
The Outside Service Supervisor is in charge of and accountable for developing a staff and maintaining a golf support operation that consistently delivers superior outside services to the Members and guests of the Sonnenalp Club. This Supervisor and his/her staff are required to perform up to standards of the Sonnenalp Club and be constantly looking to exceed those standards at every opportunity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Service:
- Provide superior, intuitive, and proactive customer service to all Members and Club guests
- Implement an arrival and departure system that adds to the positive experience at the Club and uses NAME RECOGNITION as one of its main foundations. This foundation applies to both Members and Club guests
Management:
- Manage, schedule and supervise all Outside Service Golf Staff. Head Golf Professional must approve the weekly outside services schedule. The Outside Service Manager is responsible for daily staff members, it is the managers responsibility to cover any shifts or to make arrangements for any no show staff members or sick days.
- All paperwork associated with the responsibility of being the Outside Service Manager. (New Hire Forms, Vacation Requests, Employee Reviews, Termination Forms, all other forms required by Sonnenalp HR)
- Accountable for fiscal control of the outside services portion of the budget (labor costs, golf course giveaways, supplies, etc.)
- Responsible for attending weekly staff meetings with the Golf Operations Team
- Monthly review of Golf Operations with HGP, GM, and outside services staff
- Responsible for conducting monthly player services staff meetings and daily stand-ups
- Responsible for constant employee performance management. This includes coaching, counseling, progressive discipline, and formal reviews
- Formal Employee Reviews will be completed, approved by Head Golf Professional, then gone over individually with each employee and completed on time. (season-end end of the season, or when employment ends ). Signatures from both employee and manager are required
- Responsible for correct time clock punches of all employees (ADP) in payroll office by deadline
- Responsible for OnTrack weekly entries including scheduling and input in terms of forecasting
Training:
- Responsible for creating a customer service culture focused on S.M.A.R.T goals and an ABSOLUTELY attitude
- Trains outside services staff to perform all tasks required for daily operations
- Responsible for creating Player services Policies and Procedures, Opening and Closing Checklists, Starting Procedures, Arrival and Departure procedures before and after the round
Attitude:

- Work as a team with the inside staff, and take candid feedback with a positive attitude
Starting/ Pace of Play:
- Responsible for starting golfers in a timely manner and maintaining a pace of play of no more than 4 hours and fifteen minutes for eighteen holes of golf.
- Pair golfers as necessary to ensure a good pace of play and smooth round of golf
- Keep accurate daily records. This includes start times, turn times, finish times, and cart numbers
Club Storage
- Responsible for having Members clubs ready for play well in advance of the scheduled tee time. (Loaded on golf cart if applicable)
- Responsible for thoroughly cleaning all players clubs at the completion of their round
- Responsible for accurate records and maintenance of club storage facility, informing golf shop of club storage fees to charge members when applicable
- Responsible for all clubs being placed in correct place in club storage facility.
- Responsible for performing weekly rental club inventory
Work Area
- Maintains outside work areas (including but not restricted to cart staging area, starters podium, parking lot) and cart barn facility (including club storage) in immaculate condition at all times.
- Responsible for end of the year clean up of all facilities (including but not restricted to cart barn, ball washer, detailing all golf cars). All these areas need to be left in perfect condition for the winter
Golf Cart and Golf Bike Fleet Management
- Responsible for daily cleaning and restocking of all golf carts (towels, pencils, sand bottles, scorecards, yardage cards)
- Supervises cart maintenance and is responsible for daily, monthly, and seasonal cleaning routine maintenance of cart fleet. Monthly quotas of cart detailing, and watering of batteries
- Responsible for accurate record keeping concerning the maintenance of the cart fleet
- Cultivate a great relationship with Club Car, Finn Cycle, and Steve and Neil from Maintenance. These individuals and entities will keep our fleets running well.
Driving Range
- Daily set-up and maintenance of driving range facility including set up of range
- Cleaning of Members and guests clubs at the range every 15 minutes
- Daily clean up of driving range including 90% of daily range ball retrieval from all areas of the practice facility including beyond range fence, road up to the upper lesson tee, tall grass in front of upper lesson tee, and the area near the Maintenance Facility
- Once a week performing a clean pick of the driving range (100% of balls retrieved) and surrounding areas (including but not restricted to)- beyond range fence, road up to the upper lesson tee, tall grass in front of upper lesson tee, and the area near the Maintenance Facility
Tips
- Oversees distribution of daily and annual tips. (Must be approved by the 1st Assistant Golf Professional)
Education/Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) desired.
- Prior guest service experience in a golf related position desired.
- One year of participation in the game of golf on a recreational basis.
Job Requirements:
- Superior customer service skills are essential
- Good computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet creation, web based payroll and scheduling programs.
- Playing or having a knowledge of the game of golf is helpful
- Must be able to adapt work schedule to the seasonal demands of the golf business

- Private Club experience helpful
- Ability to work closely with colleagues, other departments, Members and guests
Typical Working Conditions
- Work is primarily performed outdoors where temperature and other weather-related conditions may fluctuate widely.
- Working Times and Requirements: April 1st October 31 (Weather Permitting). Employees Must work on Holiday Weekends.
- The required scheduled shifts will be four 10-hour days (7:30-5:30, 8:30-6:30 or similar) or five 8-hour days.
- Additional hours may be required for Sonnenalp Club events
Essential Physical Requirements
- Able to routinely life up to 50lbs
- Ability to drive a golf cart
- Able to work outdoors in inclement and widely changing weather conditions
- Ability to stand and walk for full length of shift, up to 12 hours a day
- Able to perform various activities such as constant standing, walking, frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and squatting
