Job Summary
Reporting to and under supervision of the Senior Director for Technology and Access Services (SD), the Instructional Support Technician (IST) provides comprehensive technical support services for University Library equipment including, but not limited to, instructional technology in library classrooms, specialized equipment in support of library services, and technical computer support in collaboration with the SSU Information Technology (IT) Department. The IST works closely with the SD, the Library Technology Committee, and the University I.T. Department to maintain and improve library equipment and the general technology environment, support library technology projects as assigned, research solutions, and provide recommendations. The IST helps faculty develop new instructional activities by acting as a resource in materials and equipment utilization, and assists library administration in planning and implementing new services, and provides work direction and training to library technology and Makerspace student assistants.

Key Qualifications
This position requires the equivalent to three years of experience providing instructional support services for a library or other academic unit or the equivalent to two years of college with 16 semester units in courses involving extensive use of materials, supplies, or equipment and in a discipline related to the area to which assigned may be substituted for one year of the required experience or the equivalent to four years of college with 16 semester units in courses involving extensive use of materials, supplies, or equipment and in a related discipline may be substituted for two years of the required experience. Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Windows, Google Suite, and Macintosh operating systems required. Preferred qualifications include experience with specialized library and Makerspace equipment and knowledge of standard academic computing applications, including multimedia applications; graphics applications and network applications such as WWW tools. Successful completion of a pre-placment physical examination is required.

Salary and Benefits
Starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and is anticipated to be in the range of $3,907 to $4,306 a month. This is a full time, non-exempt position, which will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period.

This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 14 paid holidays are offered each year; 13 scheduled on specific days and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year.
