As an Embedded Software Engineer working as a member of the CoreOS Team, you will be part of the team responsible for the audio distribution and processing software at the heart of all Sonos products. You are interested in embedded software engineering, can thrive in a new product development environment and are passionate about achieving a high performance system. You will be responsible for applying solid software engineering design patterns and best practices needed to evolve and expand the core codebase to deliver new ideas and technical innovations into products that continue to delight our customers and set the satisfaction bar higher. You will be a member of a team that is setting new standards for the audio industry and reshaping the way consumers engage with music. You will work independently as well as with a team of industry leading innovators in other engineering fields such as acoustics, mechanical, wireless, application software, hardware, and user experience. What You'll Do Design, develop and refactor real-time modular software components used to power Sonos products Participate in design reviews, and code reviews on github Contribute to the suite of developer unit tests using google test Reproduce, isolate and debug complex low-level problems that may span interfaces between hardware and software Analyze and troubleshoot streaming audio in a variety of formats to improve reliability Interface with other team members as well as other teams to define the proper APIs and IPC mechanisms needed to access audio services Benchmark and optimize system performance for audio and other low latency data traffic streaming and processing over wireless network Create, review, and maintain documentations What You'll Need Basic Qualifications: Bachelor degree in CS, EE or related areas Fluent in C and C programming Able to read and write simple scripts in common languages, Bash, Python, etc. 1 years of real-time embedded software engineering experience Experience in using source code control and defect tracking systems (Jira, Git, Perforce) Good communication and documentation skills Preferred Qualifications: Have networking knowledge or experience Have experience testing, debugging and delivering features in final products or projects Have experience in multi-threaded Linux runtime environment #LI-Remote We consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, which may cause compensation to vary depending on your skills, experience and qualifications. This job is also eligible for discretionary bonuses as well as an opportunity to become a Sonos shareholder because all full time employees are eligible for stock grants. The minimum base pay may be modified in the future based on changing market conditions. The starting minimum base pay for this role is: $114,000 We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including open time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), and other benefits subject to eligibility requirements.
