Sorenson Communications, LLC. offers Video Relay Service (VRS), which gives Deaf, who use American Sign Language (ASL), and hearing people the option to communicate in their preferred language - either ASL or spoken English or Spanish. Sorenson also provides onsite and remote interpreting services between English and various other world languages.
CaptionCall, LLC. offers Internet protocol captioned telephone service (IP CTS) using advanced technology and a captioning agent to quickly provide written captions of what callers say on a large, easy-to-read screen.
Job Summary
The Instructional Designer design and develop training programs, courses, or other instructional materials or educational tools.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Create and develop e-Learning training modules that provide effective learning avenues for employees and other target audiences.
- Utilize multiple formats, including print, audio, visual, and multimedia, and selects the appropriate format for the target audience or content.
- Stay up-to-date with training and development trends and best practices.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure that content is accurate and thorough.
- Evaluate the results of training programs and modified future programs to better meet training goals.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Travel Requirements: Less than 10%
Education
Required: 4 Year / Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a related field
Experience
- Required Minimum of 2 - years of experience in instructional design.
- Knowledge and experience in creating eLearning training programs required
- Knowledge and experience in creating ASL training programs preferred
- Perform work under general supervision. Handle moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff. Possess solid working knowledge of subject matter.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team as needed.
- Strong understanding of adult learning theories and agile development processes
- Ability to create training content using a variety of instructional techniques and formats such as simulations, team exercises, group discussions or activities, self-paced eLearning, videos, lectures, interactive exercises, follow-up coaching and supports.
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications and authoring software such as, Articulate 360: Storyline & Rise.
- Proficient in video editing software such as: Adobe Premiere Pro, iMovie, Final Cut Pro.
- Familiar with learning management systems.
- Manage, maintain, and report project documentation.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English
- American Sign Language (ASL) strongly preferred
- Strong written communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines and goals
- Strong sense of ownership, attention to details, and organizational skills
- Strong trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Flexibility and ability to adapt quickly to change
