Description
The Associate Manager, Transportation will support the Director of Transportation and staff in key facets of Logistics. The responsibilities will include analysis of carriers, KPIs, and RFPs. The Associate Manager will ensure products are delivered on time and at budgeted cost and will coordinate activities amongst many departments while fulfilling these responsibilities.
Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned
• Analyze carrier pricing and service to support the onboarding of new providers, and the competitiveness of
incumbent partners. This includes support of RFPs which may be Local, Regional, or National in scope.
• Manage the onboarding of new carriers including contract vetting (with collaboration with Legal), rate organization and distribution, and systems entry. Also, manage the exiting of carriers from UBA systems and procedures.
• Support key aspects of the transportation operations team including: carrier relationship management, transportation cost analysis, carrier service metrics, and departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Position may also support day to day operational tasks such as load execution, communication processes, and exception management (additional cost approvals, Over, Short, Damage, & Refusal exceptions (OSD&Rs).
• Implement and manage efficient processes for freight invoice exception processing by the Transportation Operations team. This includes close interaction with both internal controllership and external freight audit to minimize the time invoices sit in exception status.
• Analyze performance to the monthly and annual transportation budget which includes volume and rate variances. Supports the investigation of budget variances and will be responsible for a variety of reporting with will measure the department’s performance.
• Continually evaluate technology, equipment and systems to improve performance and financial results related to Transportation Operations. Work closely with the Director of Transportation on recommending improvements.
• Support departmental associates to ensure proper load execution (tender, pickup, delivery, exception management) and excellent communication to internal and external parties. Ensure that transportation operations maintains superior service to our internal and external customers.
• Travel and / or extended or off work hours may be required.

Qualifications:
Education
• Bachelor’s degree or higher required, preferably in the areas of Supply Chain, Business, Management or related field.
Experience
• 3+ years related experience required
• Experience in Food Industry preferred
Specialized Knowledge
• Transportation Management Systems knowledge preferred
Skills/Abilities
• Superior communication skills, written and verbal.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; Microsoft Access is a plus
