Job purpose
To plan and execute electrical designs for economy, quality, reliability, safety and sustainability for innovative and advanced scientific instruments and devices. Designs must account for electrical, mechanical, and software aspects of the instrument and must developed with CAD documentation throughout the development process.
Develop electrical systems and controls for innovative high speed material handling equipment with ongoing troubleshooting, improvement to production processes, development and integration of new technologies, while supporting mechanical engineering, software, and maintenance teams.
Essential Functions:
Design electrical systems and program controls for material handling equipment.
Direct and coordinate construction, installation, maintenance, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
Develop HMI control screens and systems.
Integrate new technologies into equipment and processes.
Perform continuous improvement activities for quality and throughput.
Troubleshoot electrical systems.
Design, populate, and wire control cabinets.
Develop, document, and follow production processes.
Support maintenance, operations, and quality with repairs and redesigns to meet production goals.
Create and adhere to project plans and budgets.
Prepare specifications for the purchase of materials and equipment and the solicitations of contractors.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology, or equivalent.
Fundamental understanding of manufacturing processes and material handling equipment controls.
Ability to safely and effectively use hand tools such as meters, wrenches, drills, saws, etc.
Ability to communicate effectively with operators and vendors.
Diligence in Engineering Design Principles with a strong aptitude in math and physics.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Ability to work on production machinery which requires, climbing bending, and crouching on and around machinery.
Must be familiar with Allen Bradley controls.
Work around loud machinery requiring hearing protection, hard hat, safety glasses, steel toed shoes, and occasional dust mask.

Working conditions
Working in a high technology startup company, the engineer will work with/lead teams in a hands-on environment to meet the project requirements for industrial equipment manufacturing.
Physical requirements
The execution of work begins in team meetings where the projects needs are discussed, the engineer then translates these needs to electrical designs, builds and assembles the required circuits and then ensures that the designs fulfill the project needs.
