Overview
The Director of Engineering is a key member of the Exovera leadership team responsible for leading and scaling our engineering organization and driving all aspects of our software development efforts. This is a highly influential role reporting directly to the CEO and will have the opportunity to shape the business and decisions around Exovera’s engineering and solutioning roadmap. We are looking for a leader with a passion for technology and who is experienced in leading teams employing the latest in software development methodologies and architectures. This position requires strong competencies in Agile software development practices and modern technology components (e.g., platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, artificial intelligence/machine learning, etc.).
Responsibilities
- Lead and scale our engineering teams, driving the definition, design, and development of Exovera SaaS and SaaP offerings.
- Work collaboratively with leaders across the business to develop, specifically our product organization to influence the product roadmaps that reflect our near and long-term growth objectives.
- Ensure accountability and execution of software development efforts to ensure milestones are met and sales revenues goals are achievable
- Expand the usage of Exovera’s software factory in support of different initiatives, specifically with our parent company lines of business
- Develop and execute strategies for scaling the engineering organization to support business growth.
- Balance long-term R&D investments with near-term execution and business impact
- Communicate design and decisions and influence technology direction of peers and executive leadership.
- Serve as a role model for technical staff, leading by example and fostering an environment for continuous upskilling/learning.
- Create a strategy and supporting programs to attract, retain, and develop top talent across the development lifecycle.
- Build strategic relationships with partners across the technology industry to facilitate collaboration and partnering on our engineering efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, SW Development or equivalent technical discipline, Masters degree preferred
- 10 years experience in large scale commercial software development environments (large-scale data integration platform experience preferred)
- 5 years of experience with large-scale, high-volume SaaS, PaaS, or other cloud provider environments.
- 5 years of significant technology leadership experience with high volume low latency distributed platforms (experience with distributed industry-scale platforms preferred)
- Experienced in software development lifecycle (Agile methodologies, DevSecOps), and how to drive the technology roadmap concurrent with the feature roadmap
- Experience in setting up and managing software factories or similar development environments. This includes leading teams in implementing and optimizing automated development pipelines, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes, and DevSecOps practices and tools.
- Experience with Cloud platforms and services, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, and site reliability engineering of software systems
- Experience working closely with product team(s) to translate product requirements and business goals into technical solutions. This includes effectively communicating with product managers, understanding their vision, and providing technical insights to influence product development decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize the work effort across geographically distributed teams and ensure that tasks are completed on schedule with quality.
