Salary range is $90k to $180k, with a midpoint of $135k. New hires typically receive between minimum and midpoint, however, we may go slightly higher based on experience, internal equity and market.

GENERAL PURPOSE:
Under general direction, the Manager - Social Media/Marketing manages the Sound Transit social media program to educate, inform, and engage with Sound Transit customers and stakeholders. Oversees the team that develops content and marketing campaign strategy to support the agency goals of ridership acquisition/retention, reputation management and brand awareness. Manager plans and coordinates the work of assigned staff; participates in interdepartmental project teams, leads strategic planning efforts and applies influence across the agency to align marketing and other communications activities with business objectives. Leads workgroups as needed and responds to issues and customer questions on social channels. Communicates directly with the public via social media and The Platform blog. Provides strategic support to division and Communications, Marketing and Engagement leadership and other Executive Leadership.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Plans, manages and coordinates the work of assigned staff; and reviews work including providing constructive feedback and recommendations.
- Coaches, trains and motivates assigned staff; coordinates and/or provides staff training; manages employee relations; and measures the performance of team and takes appropriate corrective action when necessary; provides advice and counsel; develops developmental work plans; implements or recommends corrective actions, discipline and termination procedures as needed.
- Oversees agency social media program including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram and the Platform blog; establishes and manages program goals and objectives, develops short and long-term program plans, monitors, and reports on progress.
- Participates in interdepartmental project teams and acts with autonomy and authority to align social media activity with business objectives. Ensures continuity and accountability for successful Communications, Marketing, Engagement Department representation across initiatives.
- Acts as a community manager and communicates via social channels with a focus on news and emerging issues; monitors online comments and complaints, identifies trends and influencers; spots potential risks; proposes and implements initiatives; leads cross-departmental engagement team and sets, analyzes and meets performance standards for engagement.
- Represents audience voices, understands their needs; initiates and drives the development of effective audience-focused communications for social channels.
- Coordinates with Passenger Care and Engagement staff to extend Sound Transit's reach through social channels.
- Extracts insights from various tools and data sources and shares with internal partners to inform business decisions that improve customer experience and generate additional positive news stories.
- Develops engagement and acquisition strategy on social channels, identifies new opportunities based on emerging trends and technologies; proposes and implements projects that meet strategic goals across all channels.
- Maintains new development awareness in the industry; develops and maintains evaluation methods to assess program strengths and identify areas for improvement including tools, systems, processes and resourcing needs. Creates and maintains program documentation as needed.
- Implements and manages change and interventions to ensure program goals are achieved.
- Supports and advises the Department and Agency regarding opportunities to improve public affairs and engagement efforts via social media channels; acts as a thought leader to ensure that the agency employs the optimal tools, channels and technologies to meet objectives.
- Champions and models Sound Transit's core values and demonstrates values-based behaviors in everyday interactions across the agency.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or closely related field and five years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, social media and/or community management; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Three years of leadership, budgetary, planning and workforce management experience

- Senior-level program and project management including ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and organizing work to meet challenging priorities and deadlines
- Marketing principles and practices and their application to assigned area of responsibility

- Utilizing creative thinking and innovative ideas to develop campaigns, multi-media content and other promotions.
