This position will be specialized in caring for transgender, non-binary, and gender expansive people and work closely with our multidisciplinary team to expand access to our services, identify new resources for patients, foster collaboration with community-based organizations, educate other staff and service providers about culturally competent care for transgender/nonbinary/gender expansive people, and advocate for patients.
Responsibilities
- Outreach and advocacy efforts, with a focus on efforts to reach particularly underserved transgender/nonbinary/gender expansive communities not yet connected to services.
- Establishing connections with community-based organizations throughout SCC that bridges the gap between helping professional and the transgender/nonbinary/gender expansive communities.
- Consultant to staff for culturally competent care for transgender/nonbinary/gender expansive people to bring awareness, knowledge, and skills to work with trans/nonbinary/gender-diverse community in affirming ways.
- Demonstrate a multicultural, trauma- informed framework for understanding gender diversity.
- Evaluating and delivering gender affirming care to support the trans/nonbinary/gender-diverse community.
- Provide direct service to adults and youth
- Provide direct service to general population of adult clients as needed.
- Provide enhanced treatment for clients who may have dual diagnoses, both mental health and substance abuse disorders.
- Primary role is to complete assessments and treatment plans, determine ongoing treatment in collaboration with case managers (as appropriate) and provide individual, family and group therapy in accordance with the developed TCP treatment plan.
- Collaborate with Case managers, as appropriate, using a team approach to determine ongoing care and meeting clients of goals.
Qualifications:
- Education – Master's degree in Marriage Family Therapy, Social Work, or Clinical Psychology.
- California BBS registered intern as AMFT, ASW, APCC required. CA BBS licensed LMFT, LCSW, LPCC preferred.
- Experience – 2-4 years of professional, volunteer, or lived experience working with, training, enhancing, or advocating services for transgender, non-binary, and gender-expansive community members.
- Comprehensive knowledge of resources dedicated to gender affirming medical care, mental health care, and social connection for transgender/nonbinary/gender expansive communities in Santa Clara County.
- Experience developing positive working relationships with community-based organizations specifically serving transgender/nonbinary/gender expansive communities.
- Experience providing cultural competency trainings/consultations focused on working with transgender/ nonbinary/gender expansive people.
- Experience advocating for a wide range transgender/nonbinary/gender expansive patients/clients seeking to access medical, mental health care and social services
