What are the responsibilities and job description for the TLC- District Induction Coach/Curriculum Coordinator position at South Central Calhoun CSD?
District- Induction Coach / Curriculum Coordinator (Embedded in this position will be the responsibilities of teaching and introducing staff to a variety of ways to collaborate and form community connections while celebrating student and staff achievements.) Note: This position is a split position with induction taking first priority in the District. The position will be divided out based on induction needs first followed up with curriculum responsibilities. Induction Responsibilities ● Establish and maintain a trusting, confidential and non-evaluative relationship with teachers to help develop their autonomy as professionals ● Demonstrate skillful use of mentor language ● Assist teachers in reflecting on and analyzing their practice, reviewing student work and using relevant data to inform instruction and enhance student achievement ● Use knowledge of equity principles to deepen a teachers' application of Iowa Teaching Standards ● Model, as appropriate, innovative teaching methodologies through techniques such as co-teaching and demonstration lessons ● Provide opportunities for teachers to observe exemplary practice by arranging inter-site visits ● Encourage teachers to identify instructional resources and support throughout the entire school community ● Incorporate technology and analysis of data to advance both teacher learning and classroom practice ● Promote collegiality and build community among participating new teachers (e.g. new teacher seminars, summer orientation) by providing professional development Curriculum Responsibilities ● Serves as a resource person in curriculum and instruction across subject areas. ● Provides leadership to assure correlation between district curriculum and state/national standards. ● Develops, coordinates, and monitors the program of instruction for academic programs and oversees updates of the curriculum. ● Studies and evaluates new instructional techniques for possible use by classroom teachers. ● Assists in the evaluation of academic programs, grading and assessment, and their effect on student achievement. ● Assists teaching staff with the implementation of curriculum and instructional materials. ● Develops and implements follow-up plans for curriculum revisions and instructional materials adoptions. ● Assists in the selection of TK-12 instructional materials. ● Works with building principals and teams to develop and implement the school improvement process (data analysis, goal setting, action plans, etc). ● Assists with coordination of instructional support for new teachers. |
Staffing Needs: (1) Induction Coach/Curriculum Coordinator- $6,600/ea. To oversee staff and server all three levels (Elem. MS and HS) with induction and curriculum needs. (10) Extra contract days included to be carried out during the summer/early fall |
