South Dakota State University (SDSU) is offering an exciting career opportunity within the Van D. and Barbara B. Fishback Honors College. We are seeking a dynamic, collaborative, and collegial leader to serve as the Honors Instructor for Curricular Innovation. This position provides instruction for key seminars and other courses in the Honors College’s Applied Thinking and Innovation minor. The incumbent provides coordination of the minor and contributes to curricular innovation and the scholarship of teaching and learning within the honors discipline. They will increase accessibility of the Fishback Honors College curriculum to students through mobilization of our key courses in both face-to-face and online formats. This is a 12-month, 100% time, benefit eligible position. This position is supervised by the Dean of Honors.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Instructor of Curricular Innovation will:
- Coordinate the honors minor in Applied Thinking & Innovation;
- Contribute to the teaching mission of the Honors College by serving as instructor for honors seminars, and/or other courses as assigned;
- Mentor a team of 50-75 undergraduate teaching assistants each year;
- Develop and implement the core minor curriculum in online formats in addition to face-to-face delivery;
- Provide leadership for curricular innovation in honors;
- Contribute to the scholarship of teaching & learning in honors;
- Engage honors students, staff and/or faculty in publishing in peer-reviewed journals;
- Contribute to the success of initiatives of the Fishback Honors College.
SALARY RANGE:
The salary range for this position is commensurate with qualifications. We offer a generous retirement plan that includes 6% matching, 10 hours of annual leave each month, 9.34 hours of sick leave each month, and eleven paid holidays. Relocation benefits are available per university’s guidelines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree in education or a closely related field;
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences;
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills;
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills;
- Ability to work as a contributing team member;
- Demonstrated use of technology in managing and/or delivering educational programs;
- Demonstrated ability or potential to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate educational materials and direct effective programs;
- Strong record of teaching effectiveness;
- Ability to manage multiple, multi-faceted ongoing projects;
- Valid driver’s license, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire, and willingness to travel.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience teaching in honors;
- Experience advising and/or mentoring honors students;
- Experience collaborating with faculty from multiple disciplines;
- Experience teaching in both face-to-face and online formats;
- Experience with collaboration in developing funding proposals to support new and/or enhanced programming;
- Strong working knowledge of the honors profession;
- Experience publishing within peer reviewed journals.
