Job Description:

The Lincoln Middle School Principal provides instructional leadership and cooperative school management focused on academic achievement and positive student behavior. The priority of the middle school principal is ensuring academic success and learning for all students. Additional duties include evaluating and supervising instructional programs, classified and licensed staff, assigning employees, developing and oversight of the school budget, parent and community relations, positive student behavior programs, and implementing district policies.

Primary Function

This position requires a strong understanding of Common Core Standards and how to ensure effective implementation. Putting together an effective instructional schedule including classroom teachers, specialists and educational assistants is a must. The job requires the ability to analyze and offer alternative solutions to issues as they arise. The position has supervisory responsibility for planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the quality and quantity of work of licensed and classified professionals. Frequently meets with teachers, school psychologists and other educational personnel to lead, influence, motivate and monitor the goals and objectives of the school operation. Ensures compliance with District and Board goals.

Successful Candidates will:

• Have experience as a building administrator (preferably at secondary level)
• Possess or be eligible for an Oregon Administrative License

Position Responsibilities

•  Serves as the instructional leader and operational manager of the Middle School facility.
•  Leads school curriculum alignment, planning and implementation.
• Works closely with the school staff in identifying educational and instructional needs, and in developing plans to improve the instructional process.
• Supports all staff in the development of Student Learning Goals (SLG’s) and in the experiences and strategies to achieve those goals.
•   Confers and consults with school and District personnel, parents, and students pertaining to educational and behavior management problems and alternative solutions.
• Uses the district’s licensed and classified evaluation system to support all staff working at the highest level of effectiveness.
•  Assumes an active and engaging role in the functions and activities of the District’s Administrative Council and other assigned committees and groups.

Education and Licensure Requirements

Must hold or qualify for an Oregon Administrative License.

Salary Range and Benefits

The District will provide a competitive salary for a 220-day contract. The placement on the salary schedule is dependent on previous qualifications and experience. The District provides a generous benefit package in addition to the base salary.
