What are the responsibilities and job description for the MEDICAL ASSISTANT - SPECIALTY CLINIC position at South Peninsula Hospital?
This Medical Assistant position is located at the Specialty Clinic, one of our outpatient clinics.
Hours:
This is a full-time benefited position, 40 hours per week, day shift, Monday through Friday, with possible Saturdays, 8 hour days.
Starting Salary:
Without Medical Assistant Certification: $22.86 - $29.31/hr and up (rate of pay for 0-20 years of experience, rate is higher with more years of experience)
With Medical Assistant Certification: $24.51 - $31.42/hr and up (rate of pay for 0-20 years of experience, rate is higher with more years of experience)
What you'll do:
- Provide initial patient triage, registration and administrative services,
- Perform specialized medical procedures of a routine nature, as directed by established clinical protocol or a provider,
- Assist providers, nurses and other support staff with direct patient care.
What you'll need:
- Be at least 18 years of age and be a high school graduate or have a GED equivalent.
- Requires knowledge of clinical practices and procedures and clinical competencies.
- Minimum of 1 year of office/clerical experience with one year in a healthcare related field.
- Prior or current CNA and/or EMT-1, Health Care Specialist, or Medical Assistant certification is preferred, but may be substituted with appropriate experience in a healthcare setting.
- One to two years of previous hospital experience desired.
- Certification as Medical Assistant helpful.
- Possess a working knowledge and use of Medical Terminology.
- Have knowledge of Medical Records/Health Information Management requirements.
- Requires receptionist skills, including the ability to be courteous and tactful with patients, their families, and facility personnel both in person and by phone.
- Must have good communication skills, understand chart flow, record keeping, order entry and scheduling.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
