This position is open until filled and will be used to fill a non-permanent part-time hourly position which will work no more than 8-10 hours per week.

South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) seeks candidates for a part-time Program Coordinator for the eSports Program in Student Life.  

As a member of the Student Life Staff, this position will perform administrative and clerical tasks to support and serve as the Head Coach of the SPSCC eSports Program.   The Head eSports Coach is a member of the Student Life department and reports directly to the Dean of Student Engagement & Retention.  As Head Coach, this position would be responsible for all aspects of the eSports programs in organization, student recruitment, fundraising, coaching and practice planning (skill development and strategy), and other aspects of the program as requested.

Provide strategic coaching and program coordination for the SPSCC eSports program:

  • Assist in outreach, promotion, and recruitment for the eSports program; identify and engage potential gamers.   Scout and recruit high school and transfer students to participate in the program. 
  • Technical abilities to operate, troubleshoot and monitor computer equipment, navigate support websites and general knowledge of gaming platforms.
  • Provide technical expertise in the fundamentals of each eSports offered.  Will instruct students in the basics as well as advanced strategies.
  • Supervise all eSports practices and program events and functions.
  • Assist in developing a strategic plan for the SPSCC eSports program; assist in identifying eSports offerings.
  • Ensure program compliance with all league, conference, and institutional policies and procedures; manage the eSports program in accordance with the policies and procedures of SPSCC.   
  • Develop a comprehensive marketing plan to ensure visibility of the eSports program through multiple platforms. 
  • Represent the college and the eSports program with integrity and sportsmanship at all times.
  • Respond to eSports program inquiries.
  • Create marketing and informational materials to promote the eSports programs, to include flyers and forms, sending mailings; update the eSports website.  
  • Plan and implement open house events and information sessions for interested students and community members. 
  • Coordinate and facilitate student onboarding procedures to the program; coordinate and facilitate group and individual orientation activities. 
  • Maintain good working relationships with other college departments and personnel.
  • Maintain accurate and organized filing systems for the eSports program.
  • Communicate effectively verbally, and in written correspondence. 
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with college departments and personnel. 
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate multicultural competence (including an awareness and understanding of historically disadvantaged populations) and create an educational and work environment that affirms a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Support the college’s mission by creating a work environment of mutual respect and fairness, while encouraging creative and critical thinking.  
  • Contribute to the appreciation of diversity and foster a climate of multicultural understanding.

High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of competitive eSports experience as a player and/or coach OR equivalent education/experience.

 Conditions of Part-Time Employment
Non-permanent employees under the provisions of WAC 357-19-435 are only authorized to work up to a maximum of 18 months from the original date of hire.  Employment with the college could end any time.
