POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. This position will be responsible for providing a safe, supervised play environment for the children of YMCA members while their guardian is on the premises.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Be responsible for safety and wellbeing of children ages 3 months through 12 years. Monitor childrens whereabouts at all times.
- Maintain a safe play environment by managing safety protocols, supervision guidelines, sign-in/out procedures, and maintaining a clean, organized workspace.
- Be enthusiastic and contribute creative ideas, and help organize group activities such as crafts, physical, and intellectual games.
- Serve as a resource to members, parents, and the community and provide accurate information regarding the YMCA Playcare programs and services.
- Ensure a professional appearance and environment of program area.
- Treat all children, parents, and co-workers with respect and dignity.
- Encourage the social, physical, and mental growth of the children in Playcare.
- Supervise volunteers who are on duty.
- All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 16 years of age or older
- Previous experience working with children preferred.
- Desire and ability to work with children of all ages, to include infants 3 months and older.
- Desire and ability to develop positive, authentic relationship with children and families from diverse backgrounds.
- CPR, First Aid and AED certification required within the first 30 days of hire.
- Child Abuse Prevention Training required within first 30 days of hire.

- Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations (depending upon the programs).
