POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Clinical Director holds an administrative appointment and collaborates in the management of the clinical support experiences for online students. Responsibilities include managing the clinical team to provide oversight for the processing of student clinical applications for the online student population in all programs with a practica. The Senior Clinical Director will provide supervision and management of clinical applications, and will ensure all applications meet state regulatory, agency, and university standards. The Senior Clinical Director is responsible for all aspects of leadership for the clinical team, including but not limited to operational efficiency, report management and interpretation, maintaining and implementing SOPs, and ensuring efficient processing of all student’s clinical applications. The Senior Clinical Director is the liaison between the clinical and academic teams. The incumbent will manage the Assistant Clinical Coordinator Manager, paralegals, and the Director of Academic and Clinical Compliance.
KEY JOB ELEMENTS:
Development, oversight and continuous review of student rotations within clinical and preceptorship experiences. Formulate reports based on documents/materials provided by the clinical coordination team and conduct periodic documentation audits.
Prepare reports as directed by the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and College Deans.
Provides leadership and guidance to clinical team.
Responsible for clinical compliance and the clinical team’s timely processing of clinical applications.
Evaluates compliance rates and develop process to support and improve clinical application approvals.
Develops and maintain SOPs for all aspects of the clinical team.
Ensures that all clinical applications meet University, state, clinical partner and accreditation standards.
Serve as the representative for clinical experiences on the Assessment Committee and other committees as assigned.
Serve as liaison between South University and all clinical sites promoting good relationships and ongoing clinical relationships.
Develop, in conjunction with Assistant Clinical Directors and Assistant Clinical Coordinators, the schedule and specific training modules for all preceptors/students/clinical faculty.
Serve as Subject Matter Expert in reviewing student and institutional files, including information on liability insurance, clinical affiliation agreements, preceptorship agreements, health records, and background checks.
Implement and maintain an effective electronic student documentation system that meets the needs of the nursing curriculum and professional discipline and prepare quarterly reports as requested.
Analyze data to evaluate student performance in clinical rotations and preceptorship experiences and make recommendations to the appropriate college.
Communicates practicum/issues to Program Directors and/or Assistant Clinical Directors.
Perform other responsibilities as determined by the Program Dean
Responsible for maintaining practicum manual and related forms related to practicum.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution (in an area related to management or business leadership preferred)Experience contracting clinical sites and planning preceptorship experiences across a wide geographic domain.Experience with managing clinical teams.Documented record of professional, academic, and administrative/management achievement.Ability to read, interpret, and implement accreditation criteria and state agency regulations.Ability to resolve inquiries and complaints from students, faculty, preceptors, regulatory agencies, and/or members of the academic or business community.Ability to effectively present information to students, faculty, academic leaders, corporate leaders, and public groups.Experience with computerized learning management and education administrative systems.Proficient with the use of standard business productivity, computer data base management, and Internet applications on personal computers.Possess a strong commitment to the mission and goals of South University Other requirements specific to the discipline.
