GENERAL PURPOSE
This Shelter Manager position supports the operational efforts of South Valley Services- Pathways Shelter program to ensure refuge and support to victims of domestic/sexual violence. The Shelter Manager is a member of the leadership team, who works closely with the Shelter Director, responsible for evaluating and implementing comprehensive programs that are mission-focused and client-centered. This position is also responsible for mentoring and training Resident Advocates, ensuring Shelter services are trauma-informed and all practices are in line with a survivor empowerment model.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
● Provide oversight and program supervision to ensure that DHHS licensing requirements and established policies and procedures are followed, and all clients are served in a professional and respectful manner.
● Participate in program on-call responsibilities and be available to staff for assistance in handling problem situations.
● Schedule staff to ensure adequate Shelter coverage, in coordination with the Lead Resident Advocate.
● Conduct weekly Shelter meeting.
● Participate in weekly Case Managers’ meetings.
● Assist with required funding and licensing reports.
● Responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of the Shelter facility, with assistance from the Facilities Advocate, and will report any needed repairs or maintenance to the Shelter Director.
● Assist with community outreach, meetings, and other events as needed.
● Work collaboratively with community partners, including housing programs, homeless shelters, other domestic violence programs, police departments, and other agencies that provide resources that help support survivor needs.
● Provide Shelter shift coverage when necessary.
● Assist with hiring and supervising Resident Advocates, including scheduling/facilitating regular feedback meetings.
● Oversee training for Resident Advocates to ensure best practice and procedures being utilized and ensure all RA’s meet licensing requirements, in coordination with the Lead Resident Advocate.
● Review staff documentation and data entry for quality assurance, in coordination with the Shelter Services Coordinator.
● Work in partnership with the Shelter Director to set data-informed goals and monitor progress toward goal achievement.
● Review client files for accuracy and completion, including intake signatures, exit documents, and all other required documentation.
OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES
· Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with residents and staff.
· Complete miscellaneous duties to comply with sanitation, safety, health, and licensing regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
● Minimum of two years of work-related experience in a domestic violence shelter and/or victim service.
● Ability to lead others, including but not limited to ability to motivate, delegate responsibility, and train/coach others.
● Ability to communicate clearly and concisely verbally and in writing in English.
● Computer skills, knowledge of community resources, and good crisis intervention/de-escalation skills.
● Pass and maintain a cleared Direct Access Clearance System background check.
● Obtain First Aid and CPR certification within 30 days of hire and recertify every two years.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor's degree in behavioral science
· Knowledge of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault laws, U-Visa process and other immigration matters, Protective Orders and Stalking Injunctions
· Completion of 40 Hour Core Advocacy Training (or will complete within first six months of employment)
· Bilingual English/Spanish
