Job Overview:
The Systems Administrator II supports all Systems and Infrastructure for SEARHC, within both internal and cloud platforms. Performing complex maintenance tasks independently such as installing new infrastructure components, reviewing, and approving system documentation and procedures, planning software and firmware updates of Infrastructure components, while upholding the security configurations within these systems. The Systems Administrator II provides Tier 3 support to resolve issues that are assigned to the Systems Infrastructure team. Being able to learn new technologies quickly and adapt to new ideas and new methodologies is a must. This position is expected to participate in the critical system support structure with other IT departments. The Systems Administrator II is expected to function with a very high degree of autonomy and self-direction once assigned work.
Salary: $41.83-$48.61 per hour, DOE
Responsibilities:
Accountabilities
- Participates and engages and occasionally leads in team meetings, team building activities, and other opportunities to strengthen the department.
- Executes project-related tasks.
- Actively maintains education and cross-training on virtualization areas of expertise.
- Prepares, leads, and attends training when available and appropriate.
- Leads the effort in role-based user provisioning activities, processes and standards for system-wide applications related to VDI and virtual infrastructure.
- Prepares and leads in inter and intra-departmental committees and groups focused on VDI.
- Participates in the evaluation and estimation of virtualization work requests, and major projects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a professional business manner and ability to interact with people of differing professional levels.
- Assists management in identifying opportunities for process improvement within the department.
- Occasional after hours work when needed, which can include weekends, holidays, or non-standard business hours.
- Position requires frequent travel to locations in Southeast Alaska.
Position Complexities
- Maintains detailed and accurate records related to Physical, VDI, and Virtual Infrastructure.
- Creates, follows, and maintains documentation and checklists to ensure efficiency and consistency.
- Highly Proficient with Active Directory, DHCP and DNS.
- Highly Proficient with the two most recent version of Microsoft Windows Server and Desktop Operating Systems.
- Highly Proficient with PowerShell
- Highly Proficient with Enterprise-grade Hypervisors, Storage, Virtual Desktop and Backup and Recovery Technologies.
- Highly Proficient with Enterprise-grade system monitoring technologies
- Highly Proficient with Citrix NetScaler, as well as Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops
- Highly Proficient with Nutanix / Hyper-converged Technologies
Qualifications:
Education
- High School Diploma and demonstrates the knowledge, skill and ability to perform the key responsibilities of the position.
- BS in Information Systems or related field preferred
- Microsoft MCSA / MCSE preferred
- Citrix CCA, or must obtain 1 associate series certification within the first 12 months of employment.
Experience
- 8-10 years’ work experience managing Windows and Linux/Unix based server systems.
- 8-10 years’ work experience with Virtualization
- 8-10 years’ work experience with SAN systems.
- Knowledge of several of the following: AD/LDAP, enterprise anti-virus, enterprise backup systems, enterprise monitoring/reporting systems. Knowledge of common databases, such as: Oracle/MSSQL/MySQL, etc.
- Demonstrated work in hands on configuration, maintenance, and direct responsibility for enterprise IT systems, with preference for a Health Care environment.
- Scripting/Programming experience and background.
- Preference for modern scripting language, especially Perl, Python, PHP, Powershell, WSH, etc.
- Familiarity with ITIL, HIPAA, HITECH, and other standards applicable to Health Care IT.
