Job Title: Counselor or Social Work Student Support Specialist
Job Description: Full-Time Student Success Counselor or Social Work Specialist at the Faribault Middle School. This position commences with the 2024-25 school year on August 19, 2024. The Student Success Specialist will serve as a connection between Faribault Middle School and students and their families. The Student Support Specialist will monitor attendance needs, providing assistance for students and their families. They will also support our students in school to make positive, healthy, and safe choices with small groups and whole group lessons aligning with our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support framework. This position will collaborate and communicate to connect families to FMS classrooms to ensure students are supported both at school and at home.
Qualifications: Ability to build strong and caring relationships with all FMS community members, including students, family, and staff. Solid communication and collaboration skills with students and adults. Knowledge of available community resources. Advocates for and listens with compassion regarding our students and families of FMS. Monitors student academic progress and communicates with parents on current achievements and needs.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: The compassion and care necessary to interact empathetically with FMS students, families, and staff; ability to analyze and communicate attendance, academic content, and student performance to students and their families; ability to conduct discussions with all members of the Faribault Public Schools community effectively and to interpret needs and interactions objectively; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, staff, and administration.
Licensure: Master’s degree in one of the following preferred: school counseling, education, social work, or special education. Bachelor’s degree required. Licensed in one of the following: K-12 School Counselor, LSW/School Social Worker.
