Position Overview:
The traffic control specialist will work in conjunction with our construction crews to ensure that automobiles do not interfere with, or pose a danger to, laborers and their projects. The specialist will follow the proper techniques and safety procedures for installing and monitoring traffic-control signs, equipment, and devices.
Essential Functions:
- Setting up cones and safety alert signs as well as any necessary barriers required by the DOT.
- Must create a safe work zone that ensures traffic stays out of the way of all site workers.
- Must be constantly aware of the construction and traffic activity taking place around the work area.
- Erect temporary structures.
- Place traffic signs to warn traffic of construction in process.
- Clean and maintain construction equipment appropriately.
- Load and unload equipment from trucks.
- Ensure that all work is being done in compliance with the company’s protocols.
- Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Brings problems to the attention of the foreman
- Execute job deliverables according to customer specifications and contract requirements
- Manage cost control, margin expectations, productivity, change orders and equipment reporting
- Ensure all project work is compliant with installation standards and is being performed safely and correctly
- Promote and monitor the safety of team members
- Prepare sites to ensure maximum optimization of construction work procedures
- Clean debris, trash and hazardous materials from construction sites
Qualifications:
Education Preferred: High school diploma or Equivalent
Experience Preferred: Knowledge of traffic safety techniques and standards, has limited experience.
Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position lifts heavy objects (up to including 50 pounds), walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina.
