Primary purpose and function:
Southeast Valley Gastroenterology (SEVG) is an established 8 physician and 14 physician assistant gastroenterology practice. We are looking for a supervisor to oversee our patient intake and medical records departments. Under the direction of the practice’s leadership, the supervisor will have direct supervision of critical practice functions including appointment phone queues, referrals, patient portals, release of information, and records requests from outside entities.
Essential functions and responsibilities:
· Support and maintain a work environment that embodies professional excellence, teamwork, integrity, mutual respect, and confidentiality.
· Ensure performance of daily tasks are completed in an efficient and professional manner for intake and medical records staff.
· Plan, direct, and evaluate the day-to-day operational processes and staff schedules for the intake and medical records departments.
· Facilitate training and development of existing and new employees to ensure consistent adherence to practice policies, procedures, and customer service expectations.
· Collaborate with providers, staff, and organizational leaders to obtain feedback on policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards of care related to intake and medical records.
· Serve as a resource to staff by answering questions and assisting with problems.
· Actively participate in completion of daily tasks to include answering phones, obtaining records, and working on referrals to the practice.
· Maintain appropriate documents, reports, and files to comply with all applicable laws (EX: HIPAA) and policies.
· Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Knowledge and Skill:
· Minimum 5 years experience working in a healthcare setting.
· Minimum of 2 years supervisory/leadership experience in a healthcare setting.
· Proficient with medical terminology.
· Superior attention to detail and proven ability to multitask.
· Knowledge of governmental, legal, and regulatory provisions related to healthcare and medical records.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products, electronic records, and medical practice management software.
Physical demands:
· Frequent alpha/numeric keyboarding.
· Oral communication over the phone and in person.
· Must be able to exercise patience and accuracy in the face of multiple interruptions.
