The Statistician works primarily with numerical data related to the institution’s goals by collecting data; consolidating numerical data into databases; using statistical software to perform an analysis of the numbers; applying various calculations and formulas to analyze and interpret the data; ensuring the data and calculations are accurate; interpreting results to find trends and information that’s useful for decision-making; and presenting the data and statistical findings to supervision.All SAU Tech employees are expected to demonstrate excellence in interpersonal behaviors and be committed to effective collaboration with colleagues. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Assist with the tabulation of data from the student information system files and prepare reports to provide feedback regarding institutional effectiveness and assessment of student outcomes.• Provide data to various individuals, committees, and departments in preparation of grants, assessment activities, and Higher Learning Commission reports. • Coordinate responses to externals surveys such as National Community College Benchmark Project, Institutional Data Questionnaire, Peterson’s Financial Aid Survey, Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCCSE), Survey of Entering Student Engagement, etcetera and communicate institutional characteristics to internal and external constituencies. • Design, produce, and coordinate the distribution of survey instruments such as Student Satisfaction Survey, Student Assessment of Instruction Survey, Graduate Exit Survey, Employee Opinion Survey, and other needed surveys. • Receive completed survey results and provide written and graphical reports by interpreting the results to find trends and information that is useful to various departments when making decisions. • Coordinate departmental (non-academic) collection of institutional planning data. • Support computer-related functions related to assessment and accountability for non-academic areas by maintaining and utilizing appropriate data collection systems and assisting departments in the use of the systems. • Advise supervisor on issues affecting the department and institution and give suggestions and recommendations on necessary actions needed. • Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
