Part-time Position Overview:
The Durable Medical Equipment Tech performs a variety of tasks including the application of pre-fabricated and custom orthotic devices.
Position Requirements:
Basic computer skills
Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology
Prior orthopaedic or rehab experience preferred
Exceptional customer service, interpersonal skills, and communication skills
Must be able to complete tasks with a high-degree of efficiency and accuracy while working in a fast-paced environment with frequent disruptions
Must demonstrate the ability to analyze data and resolve complex problems
Must have the ability to work independently while managing time and workload appropriately
May need to travel to satellite locations for delivery/retrieval of DME items
Job Responsibilities:
Apply prefabricated and custom orthotic devices ordered by physicians
Educate patients about donning, doffing, the use and maintenance of devices
Communicate with physician teams and multidisciplinary staff
Document patient encounters in detail
Maintain and order DME supply inventory
Deliver compassionate care to patients and manage protected health information
Other duties include but are not limited to the following: policy compliance, record keeping, scheduling, and validating patient eligibility for equipment
Retrieval of patients from clinical area to apply DME
Hours for this position will vary.
