Southern Illinois University School of Law is a dynamic, small public law school that provides its students with an optimal mix of theoretical and experiential educational opportunities in a student-centered environment to prepare them for a changing legal profession in a global environment. SIU School of Law seeks to fill the Director of the Library and Associate or Full Professor position to begin on July 1, 2024. The Director reports directly to the Dean of the Law School and is responsible for all aspects of library operations, including budgeting and financial management; hiring, supervision, and development of library faculty and staff; strategic planning with respect to the future growth and development of the library; initiating and monitoring library policies, programs, and services; and representing the library in the Law School, the University, and before the public.
Reports directly to the Dean of the Law School and is responsible for all aspects of library operations, including budgeting and financial management; hiring, supervision, and development of library faculty and staff; strategic planning with respect to the future growth and development of the library; initiating and monitoring library policies, programs, and services; and representing the library in the Law School, the University, and before the public. The Director ensures that the library’s collection and resources are sufficient to meet the primary goal of supporting the teaching and research needs of the Law School’s faculty, staff, and students by taking an active role in the creation and implementation of collection development policies and priorities. The Director also ensures that the library is in compliance with accreditation standards and membership requirements of the American Bar Association (ABA) and Association of American Law Schools (AALS). As a tenure-track or tenured member of the law school faculty, the Director participates in the school’s governance, engages in scholarship and teaches in the school’s lawyering skills curriculum and in other courses as needed. The Director serves on Law School committees, University committees, and other University governing bodies.
