What are the responsibilities and job description for the 1st Class Pipefitter position at Southern Maritime Services?
Southern Maritime Services is now seeking 1st Class Pipefitters for shipyard work located in PASCAGOULA, MS. Long term work available with overtime likely. PER DIEM AVAILABLE FOR QUALIFYING APPLICANTS!
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 2 to 4 years verifiable marine or industrial pipefitting experience
- Must know Ship terminology
- Basic math, reading and comprehension skills
- Must be able to read marine blueprints and work standard and metric specifications
- Ability to layout, fabricate, fit, and install pipe
- Must be able to burn and bevel carbon steel pipe with hand torch
- Testing will consist of written comprehensive exam and hands-on testing to include: from a pipe detail drawing, an applicant must be able to fit up a pipe assembly.
- Must be able to figure a rolling 90, and 45 degree off-set and be able to fit flanges and valves
- Familiarity with fit-up, alignment tolerances and advanced blueprint reading skills is preferred
- Must pass drug test (HFT) and E-Verify
- Must be able to pass background check (no felonies within 7 years)
- Must be able to work all shifts
- Must be able to work in confined spaces, ascend and work at heights, under all weather conditions
