Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with a focus on large-scale Microsoft Messaging environments (Exchange & O365). The successful candidate will have experience with O365\Exchange, Active Directory, Mail routing, mail security (anti-SPAM, anti-virus) and PowerShell scripting. The Messaging Systems Engineer II solves business problems using technology models by analyzing, recommending, implementing and supporting solutions.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Installing, configuring, deploying and troubleshooting server/desktop/workstation hardware and software in both the on premise and cloud environments
Rack and install servers and server supported hardware on premise (i.e. SAN, Tape Drives, etc.)
Working knowledge of Microsoft Server Operating Systems, including legacy Server 2008 thru current versions as late as 2022
Working knowledge of various on premise and cloud Server Applications, including O365, Exchange Server, SQL, IaaS, SaaS, PaaS
Working knowledge of on premise and cloud Active Directory and associated services, including but not limited to AD Connect, DNS and DHCP.
Install, setup, and maintain/monitor Virtualization software, VMware VSphere/ESX, VCenter and Microsoft Hyper-V.
Install, setup, and maintain/monitor Microsoft Terminal Server(s) to support secure remote access to University systems, Server 2008 thru 2022
Install, setup, and maintain various Azure based and on Premise server functions, including but not limited to; file servers, SQL DB servers, web servers, applications servers, etc.
Manage Backup software including on premise and cloud environment to include Azure native, Dell Compellent and Net Backup environment
Monitoring server equipment, traffic, server performance using monitoring software both on premise and Cloud native
Manage, implement and maintain servers and SAN environments in hybrid environments
Monitor server equipment, traffic, and server performance in hybrid environments
Working knowledge of internal and external Certificates
In-depth knowledge of Automation coding ( i.e. PowerShell, JSON)
Working knowledge of PowerBI or other reporting tools for use in hybrid environments
Additional Skills:
Support ServiceNow queues and case management escalations as needed
Support of Change and Problem Management processes
Develop and maintain documentation of environments
Research new software and hardware solutions
Define benefits of technology offerings
Develop collaborative relationships with peers and management levels
Maintain professional and technical knowledge
Manage vendor relations
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
6 years of relevant work experience
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
Equivalent of experience in lieu of degree acceptable: x Yes No
Must be a highly organized, detail-oriented self-starter
Must be available to work evenings and weekends as necessary
Must possess strong written and interpersonal communication
Must possess skills and the ability to work with diverse groups and individuals
Must have the ability to self-prioritize and balance multiple tasks and assignments concurrently, consistently meeting deadlines and due dates
Solid working knowledge of Microsoft products, especially server operating systems
