GENERAL SUMMARY
-
Works under the supervision of the Clinical Manager of Oncology Services and in collaboration with the Assistant Nurse Manager. The Oncology Clinic LPN's primary job function is to provide assistance to the provider with patient exams. Collects vitals, chief complaints, pain assessment, and documents past medical history. Phones prescriptions to pharmacies, escribe medications, make referrals, operates medical equipment, and performs patient education. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
-
High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam Required

Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing required

Licensure:
-
LPN, as appropriate to state, required
-
IV Certification required
-
BLS required within 90 days of hire

Experience:
-
One to three months experience preferred
-

Interpersonal Skills:

Ability to develop positive interactions with patient, patients' families, coworkers, and providers in order to effectively care for the patients.

Essential Technical/Motor Skills:

Copying, calibrating equipment, speaking clearly, answering telephones, fine dexterity, precise manipulations, keyboarding, handling and gripping.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

- Assists the provider with patient examinations, procedures, venipuncture, and other diagnostic testing.
- Collects and documents patient vitals, chief complaints, pain assessment, medication reconciliation and past medical history.
- Performs and maintains other LPN duties as related to Cancer Center operations.
- Ensures that clinical supplies are properly stocked.
- Reviews charts for next day's appointments and pulls lab results, etc. as necessary.
- Logs and updates medication lists for patients.
- Assists with answering phones and scheduling appointments.
- May be asked to provide coverage in other areas of the Cancer Center.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
