Southern Seven Health Department is seeking applications for a regular, full time Head Start Health/Nutrition Specialist based at the Administrative Office in Ullin, Illinois. This position does come with a benefit package, including vacation, personal, and sick time accrual, holidays, health and life insurance, and an employer sponsored cafeteria plan.
This position is responsible for developing policies and procedures and monitoring of the health and nutrition services (in coordination with a support staff) for the Head Start program and is a member of the Head Start Management Team.
Qualifications: The applicant must have at least a Bachelor's Degree related to Health, Nutrition, Nursing, or Dietetics.
Pay Range: $23.10- 25.47 hourly
Job Duties:
- Maintains, develops, implements, and monitors written policies and procedures for the Health and Nutrition service areas as per all regulations.
- Analyzes health and nutritional data and initiates referrals when necessary and monitors follow up services.
- Reviews and maintains up to date and accurate information regarding children's health information into data base and generates reports as needed based on the data.
- Sets up ongoing dates for dental exams for all Head Start sites.
- Develops healthy menus in coordination with a Registered Dietician that meet all of the requirements.
- Coordinates requisitioning of health and nutrition supplies and equipment.
- Visits Head Start sites to provide assistance and monitor health and nutrition services.
- Facilitates a Health Services Advisory Committee (made up of Head Start parents and medical professionals).
- Provides required trainings to staff on a regular schedule.
- Facilitates meetings with staff and parents as needed.
- Performs other duties as requested or assigned to meet the requirements of the Head Start program.
