FULL-TIME MIDDLE SCHOOL SPANISH TEACHER
Southfield School in Shreveport, Louisiana, seeks an experienced professional to be its middle school Spanish teacher. The school was established in 1934 and is an independent co-educational, PS2 through Eighth Grade School with a current enrollment of 416 students. It is a member of NAIS (National Association of Independent Schools) and accredited by ISAS (Independent Schools of the Southwest).
Qualified candidates for this position should have at least a bachelor’s degree in Spanish (or a closely related field) and have had a least five years of teaching experience at the middle or high school level. Working knowledge of the Hispanic culture locally, nationally, and internationally would be an important attribute for a strong candidate.
The primary responsibilities for this position include:
- Teaching Spanish to grades Five through Eight
- Preparing Eighth Grade students to take and pass Spanish I (HS credit) exam
- Fulfilling all duties of a middle school staff member and attending all required meetings
- Engaging and participating in local Hispanic celebrations and fairs
