POSITION SUMMARY:
Southland Industries is growing and we're looking for a new Safety Coordinator to join our team! In this position, you'll be promoting safety and regulating all safety procedures to ensure that Southland Industries meets all safety requirements by coordinating all division safety activities.
What you’ll do:
- Ensure all tasks and functions on project sites are performed safely in accordance with company safety policies, Cal OSHA, and Fed OSHA standards.
- Implement the Corporate Safety Award Program.
- Train field staff on various industrial equipment training and maintain record of industrial equipment training.
- Perform and publish hazard analysis.
- Perform jobsite safety inspections.
- Assist in reporting workers compensation claims.
- Administer new hire orientation.
- Update and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Assemble various safety manuals for distribution.
- Assist in implementing and distributing safety tailgate meetings. Maintain record of signed safety tailgate meeting forms.
- Assist in incident investigations.
- Develop and implement lessons learned.
- Develop jobsite safety plans.
What you’ll need to be successful:
- A working knowledge of construction safety practices and a background in safety and loss management.
- Ability to interface with Southland's field employees/customers in a professional manner.
- Ability to understand, comply with and communicate state, federal and local safety and health OSHA regulations
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health, Environmental Applied Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Certifications in CPR and First Aid, preferred.
- A proactive approach to implementing safety measures.
- A positive attitude.
