Hospitality Assistant

Purpose: Entry level position with on the job training, potentially leading toward advancement in the organization. Hospitality Assistant will provide direct services related to welcoming, preparation, serving, and cleaning up after meals to people in need. Hospitality Assistant will work as a valuable team member with volunteers and current staff for a small non-profit.

Duties include

• Assists with dining room management, seating of guests, serving and clean up on Monday and Wednesday (8 hours per week) Work collaboratively with Assistant Director, Lead Cook, and volunteers to provide a caring environment and an efficient and effective meal service.

• Accepts and oversees in collaboration with Lead Cook the proper storage/use of Monday donations.

• Builds relationships with Guests. Foster an environment of dignity and respect with a sense of

belonging.

• Transportation of Food from UU Lansing to Galilee on Tuesday/Thursday and return of

pots/pans (2 hours per week) Mileage reimbursed monthly.

• Under the direction of the Lead Cook work with volunteers to assemble and deliver (on site) summer camp meals for 40-80 children and youth.

• Assist the BoD and Exec. Director for special tasks and occasions.

Hours:

Monday and Wednesday 9:15am-1:15pm (8)

Tuesday and Thursday 11:00 am - 1 pm (4)

Paid holidays include: Christmas, New Years, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day and Thanksgiving. SCK Closes when the Lansing School District closes for weather.

Understand that this job requires some flexibility in responsibilities and hours.

Agree to accept other duties requested by the Director.

Qualifications:

A current SafeServ Food Handlers certificate or willing to obtain within 30 days of hire date

Willingness to tactfully correct unsafe/unsanitary behavior.

Physical stamina to stand/walk for up to 4 hours in a kitchen environment. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Must have a neat and clean appearance, displaying necessary good hygiene according to standards listed in the food code.

Positive team attitude and a deep caring presence for volunteers and guests. Ability to function as team leader.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $12.00 per hour
