Dates: Durango – March  30th, – August 7th, 2020 or Mid-November, 2020; Salida – As early as April 6th through August or November

Leaders who stay on for the fall season will lead youth crews in the summer and young adult crews in the fall 

Wages: $685/week

This position is an opportunity to make a difference in young peoples’ lives. Leaders will be mentors, educators and facilitators for high school students, working to increase youth resiliency, build confidence and to be positive role models for their members. Youth Crew Leaders typically have experience in environmental education, the corps world, working with youth, and leadership. Crew Leaders act as mentors to the Youth Crew Leader in Development (CLDP), who may have 1 or 2 of the experiences above, but not all. Together, a Crew Leader and a CDLP lead as a pair.

Pairs work together to co-lead a high school crew of up to 8 members during the summer season. High school crews work Monday – Friday and may be camping crews or day crews. Local students ages 14-18 are hired to complete a variety of projects. One day a week is an education day. Crew Leaders and CLDP’s work long days and may work from remote communities, away from the main office. Together, they are responsible for the safety and well-being of their crew, project implementation, creating educational opportunities, and program paperwork each week. All leaders will spend April and May in an intensive crew leader training. (See each complete position description for more details on Spring Season, and each jobs’ responsibilities.) The schedule for leaders is rigorous but rewarding.
