What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sustainability Analyst II position at Southwest Gas?
The Analyst II/Sustainable Gas Supply is responsible for processing and administering sustainable gas supply purchase and sales agreements executed by the Company and utilized by the department for providing sustainable gas service to all of its jurisdictional market areas and the Company's California Cap & Trade allowance purchase program. This position includes project management, coordination between department staff and supplier contacts, processing of documents to be executed, creation and maintenance of file systems, and data entry into the Company's gas supply management systems. In addition, the incumbent will participate in the: solicitation of offers for long and short- term sustainable gas supplies and transportation service; evaluation of offers; selection of the most competitive offers for negotiation; and negotiation of sustainable gas purchase and transportation contracts and amendments. This position will also provide back-up support for the Gas Purchasing & Transportation day-to-day gas purchase, nomination, and supplier contact functions.

QUALIFICATIONS
There are clear precedents and practices that the incumbent uses as guidelines to determine how this job is performed. This position requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited university or the equivalent with three to five years of relevant work experience.
This position requires excellent communication skills, PC software skills to create and maintain Microsoft Word documents and Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, and the ability to work comfortably in a small, tightly coordinated department with critical time deadlines.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Confirm accuracy of and perform necessary daily and monthly distribution of sustainable gas purchase confirmations to suppliers
- Support analysis for and participate in all California Cap & Trade activity
- Process sustainable gas purchase agreements and transportation service agreements for execution by suppliers and by Company management
- Facilitate and/or provide supply-related data queries for regulatory and other audits/filings
- Ensure timely entry of pricing and contract data into the Company's gas supply management systems for settlement, reporting, audit, and operational processes to perform successfully
- Create/maintain documents necessary for sustainable supply and transportation file records
- Maintain various price publications for department use and historical records
- Maintain productive relationships with producers, suppliers, pipeline companies, and RNG counterparties to gain information regarding gas and renewable natural gas (RNG) supplies available for purchase and pipeline capacity available for transportation
- Proactively monitor and communicate emerging sustainability gas supply market and regulatory issues and the potential impact on the Company's operations, strategy or goals
- Assist in defining and communicating policies and procedures, as applicable to Sustainable Gas Supply activities
- Support regular and special solicitations to identify potential gas, RNG, and carbon offset supplies that satisfy the Company's sustainable gas supply portfolio requirements
- Support preparation of data requests from the FERC, state commissions, and intervenors that relate to Company sustainable gas supply practices
- Support in the development of business processes, procedures, and updating those procedures under management direction, including but not limited to the Company's Cap & Trade Policy Statement, Carbon Offset Policy Statement, and RNG Policy Statement
- Apply innovative and creative thinking in the resolution of operating and data system practices and procedures
- Interface between Sustainable Gas Supply and other Company departments for supply-related questions and data queries
- Survey sustainable gas markets and online trading applications and compare sustainable gas purchase opportunities to locate sustainable gas purchasing opportunities
- Negotiate daily and monthly gas purchase transactions that help to ensure that Southwest Gas purchases gas supplies at the best-cost considering price, minimization of short-term price volatility, and reliability
- Provide back-up for GP&T gas purchasing and nominating activities
- Provide on-call back-up for gas purchasing and nominating activities
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned
